JOHANNESBURG – South African artist Tyla’s star keeps shining bright while flying the country’s flag high. The Water hitmaker has added another award to her young career.
Tyla received her first Moon Person trophy for Best Afrobeats at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), an important win for African artists on the global stage.
She becomes the first African female artist and South African to win an VMA.
Earlier in the year, she clinched her first Grammy Award.
In her acceptance speech, Tyla celebrated the success of African music, noting that genres like Amapiano, which she proudly represents, show how diverse African music is.
Tyler expressed her pride in South Africa and spoke about the importance of continuing to elevate African music on the world stage.
The young talented musician has been topping billboard charts and her self-titled debut album”Tyla” , has been well received.
Tyla first rose to fame after her debut single ‘Water’ topped global charts in 2023. The young star’s career has been soaring to greater heights ever since.
Her latest win has no doubt reinforced Africa’s dominance on the global music scene.
